How did you get started with beadweaving?
About 6 years ago now, during a period of illness when I was looking for something to do. I started off trying to follow patterns in various magazines, bought Carol Wilcox Wells 'Creative Beadweaving' and never looked back.
What is your favorite part of beadweaving?
That would have to be the magic of turning a small pile of beads into a sculptural little work of art!
Please tell us one little known or unknown fact about yourself?
I am a member of Mensa (don't know if that's any good - it's the only little known fact I can think of at the moment lol!)
What inspires You?
Nature, flowers, the sky, color and BEADS!
Kerrie has made three recent appearances in the UK beading magazine Bead.
Here she is in Issue 8 (Feb/mar 08) with her Herringbone cufflinks which made it onto the cover.
In issue 9 (April/May 08) we find Kerrie's Herringbone and Brick stitch Butterfly Pendant.
In the April/May 08 issue of Beadwork is Kerrie's Supernova Choker, a circular Brick stitch 'starburst' on a netted band. It's gorgeous!
And finally in the April 08 issue of Bead and Button, the amazing Herringbone 'Floral Fantasy' foxglove necklace which was featured on the cover.

ReplyDeleteI'm fortunate to know Kerrie personally, she and I have become great friends and I can assure you she is as nice and beautiful in real life as she appears in the article. Her work is outstanding and her love of nature (especially flowers) is evident from the beautiful pieces she produces.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I haven't seen the Bead Mag here in Australia, I do subscribe to Beadwork and I love your herringbone necklace. It is terrific to be part of the EBW team which has such talented people in it.
It's also interesting to hear how you became involved in beading. It really is an addictive past time thats for sure.
Kerrie, I got that Bead and Button magazine and remember thinking that was one of the better covers I've seen in a long time. I had no idea it was yours! Beautiful work, and way to get yourself out there.

WOW! I remember thinking "How cool are those!" when I saw the herringbone flowers on the cover of Bead and Button. And it turns out she's an EBW member! I am not worthy! I am not worthy! ;-)
